Mouse Power
Use your mouse to defeat email scammers.
Most fraudsters sending this sort of spam use free web-based email service providers such as Yahoo or Hotmail. If this is the case, you can fight back.
Look at the email address of the person who has sent you the offending message. It has two parts, the username on the left of the @ symbol and the domain on the right.
-
Replace the sender’s username with the word “abuse”.
-
Forward the original email with the additional “abuse” address to the service provider.
So if you received email from hakim@yahoo.com, you could replace “hakim” with the word “abuse” to create the email address abuse@yahoo.com.au and then forward the original message to yahoo.
The service provider can then cancel the email account.
