Effective Mortgage Service impersonated

An SMS claims to be from Effective Mortgage offering personal loans but WA ScamNet has confirmed with the Perth company that it is NOT them and they’re being imitated.

A Western Australian who received the text went on to complete an online application form for a $25,000 loan and was asked to pay $1200 in upfront fees.

There was email communication and the victim thought they were talking to an Olivia Blake and Scott Brown; neither of whom works for the real Effective Mortgage. These are likely fake names.

Email addresses and phone numbers used by the scammers were:

  • effectivemortgageptyltd@gmail.com
  • mnkconsolidatedholdings@gmail.com
  • 08 9467 2694

The scammers also gave the true ABN belonging to the real Effective Mortgage Service, which has now put a warning on its official website (see image).

As you probably guessed, despite paying the money the victim did not receive the loan funds. It was at this point they contacted WA ScamNet and we confirmed it to be a scam.
